Santa Fe Named No. 1 U.S. City

Santa Fe topped Travel + Leisure’s 2026 World’s Best Awards as the No. 1 city in the United States, marking the second consecutive year the City Different has claimed the title. The ranking, based on a survey of more than 207,000 readers, also placed Santa Fe at No. 19 on the list of best cities in the world — the only U.S. city to appear on that global list.

Travel + Leisure’s coverage highlighted the city’s Pueblo-style architecture, its historic Plaza, and landmarks including Meow Wolf, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, and La Fonda on the Plaza. La Fonda was also named #2 among Travel + Leisure’s “Best Hotels in Santa Fe.”
